in reply to: Natural Gas Purchasing 2026 and Beyond #5057
Typically you would use hedging as a strategy to manage risk with your utilites budget, not save money. You might happen to save money some years, but that’s not why you do it. In the long run, heding will cost you more. I’ve always heard Jupiter say this as well.
Humber’s gas consumption has dropped so significantly, it did not make sense to hedge anymore. We switched to system gas last year.
Hope that helps. Good luck!

in reply to: Encellium Products #3971Hello – Encelium is Humber’s base building lighting controls provider. We have a large installation ($1M ft2 +). We have not had issues with premature failure. I know there are at least a few other college’s that have large installations as well. Feel free to reach out if you have any specific questions.
Amanin reply to: Public Sector Energy Training Group #2750My initial reaction is that there are already a lot of training resources available in the marketplace. I am wondering if investing in this is the best use of our group’s resources.
We can discuss during the next sub-committee meeting.
in reply to: ICI – Class A or B #2588Hello – Every institution’s situation is unique, for Humber it made sense to stay on Class B this year due to significant reduction in consumption as a result of COVID-19.
