Building Foundations for Ontario College Success – Ontario Colleges face unique challenges in managing their campuses’ physical buildings, landscaping, and grounds maintenance. Institutions must ensure that their campuses are not only safe and functional but also aesthetically pleasing for students, faculty, and visitors—all while operating within tight budget constraints. To address these challenges, the Building and Grounds Sub-Committee was established through the Ontario College Association of Physical Plant Administrators (OCAPPA).
Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborate on common operational topics, including:
Contract reviews for cleaning, security, snow removal, elevators, grounds maintenance, and other asset-related maintenance services.
Review and share best practices in campus management with a focus on:
Cost-saving strategies to maximize value and sustainability.
Operational efficiency to improve service delivery and resource management.
The Sub-Committee will report the findings and recommendations back to OCAPPA to support continuous improvement across Ontario’s college network.
