      How are you dealing with smart devices, energy meters, energy valves and building automation devices on your college network?

      Who is responsible for upgrading the device firmware?

      Are all these devices a security risk? How are you mitigating this risk?

      Is IT notified when the updates are happening?

      At Loyalist, I can only speak to the BAS, IT and JCI work together.  IT is responsible for the firmware, evaluating the security risk etc…  When there is a major update to Metasys system, JCI has to coordinate the update with IT.

      Recently we connected a third-party elevator camera to our network at Fleming College. We had the vendor complete a HECVAT to evaluate security risk.
