Reply To: Classroom design – power to desk or flexible configuration?

At Sault College we’ve struggled to find a flexible but durable solution utilizing floor boxes.  I’ve found the recessed floor box lids seem to break and are costly to initially install.  It is also difficult to find a solution that accommodates every possible furniture arrangement.  Moving forward, I’m leaning to plug-ins available around the perimeter only.  Any disconnected arrangements in the middle will have to do without. My rational is based on ~50% of the occupancy requiring a power source at one time.  The latest batteries last many hours without requiring a charge and many of our common spaces allow students to charge their devices if required.  I’d be interested in how you decide to proceed.
