Canadore College extends its appreciation to the community, partners, and supporters who have contributed to the successful community integration of their Sportsplex, a landmark facility that strengthens recreation, wellness, and community engagement across the region.
The Sportsplex which Canadore affectionately refers to as the “Dome” has been embraced by the Community and represents a major investment in Northern Ontario’s future by providing year-round access to an indoor turf field, training space, and multi-use community programming. Its first year of operation has attracted strong interest and support from local organizations, sports groups, students, and families, highlighting the demand for modern, accessible recreational infrastructure in the region.
In tandem with The Dome’s opening, Canadore College is proud to spotlight the commissioning of its new cogeneration system, located at the Commerce Court campus. This high-efficiency energy system not only powers The Dome, but also supplies all hydro required for the Commerce Court campus, significantly improving energy reliability, reducing environmental impact, and supporting long-term sustainability goals. The heating requirements for the Dome is being offset by a heat loop between the Cogen and the main Dome air handling unit. The Cogen provides up to 10% of the waste heat generated directly to the Dome through a high heat plate heat exchanger significantly reducing heating requirements.
The cogeneration system marks a major step forward in campus modernization, providing:

· Reduced operating costs by providing waste heat through a heat exchanger to the Dome AHU
